Nea Smyrni or Νέα Σμύρνη or New Smyrna is a
southern suburb of Athens and in the County of Attica .
The city has just under 75, 000 inhabitants
living in 2.18 square miles or 3.5 square kilometers
in the greenest area in the Athens Metropolitan Area.
Nea Smyrni is located about 5 km SW of
Athens city center and 6 km northeast
of the Port of Athens in Pireas.

be Athens' prime agricultural lands.
The area was knows for its pastures,
groves and forests. It was the population
exchange with Turkey in 1922 which
brought refugees to Greece.

with a few business areas. It is bounded by
